Apollo's Story

Apollo is an incredibly intelligent, affectionate, and people-oriented 10 year old Canadian Horse gelding looking for an experienced home that appreciates a horse who thrives on trust, patience, and partnership. Apollo stands 15.1 hands tall and is a flashy mover.

Apollo has an extraordinary ability to learn and enjoys having a job. He quickly learns new skills, retains them well, and genuinely enjoys interacting with people. He forms strong bonds with his handlers and loves positive, consistent training.

Apollo is a kind, affectionate horse who enjoys human interaction. However, he benefits from calm, experienced handling and does best with people who understand how to build trust with horses that have had difficult past experiences.

Apollo has received professional training under saddle over the years. Because of his history, he can be sensitive about saddling and requires a knowledgeable handler to help him feel comfortable. Apollo has not been under saddle while at the NHSPCA at this time, and future riding should be approached thoughtfully by an experienced trainer after an appropriate evaluation and conditioning period.

He is not currently suitable for beginner riders or children.

Apollo is an easy keeper with no special dietary needs, though his grazing should be monitored to help maintain a healthy weight. He stands well for routine farrier trims and has always gone barefoot. He loads into a trailer best with patience and a quiet approach, allowing him time to investigate before loading.

Apollo is seeking a compassionate, experienced home where his intelligence, willingness to learn, and affectionate personality can continue to shine. For the right person, he has the potential to become an exceptionally rewarding lifelong partner.

Interested in adopting Apollo?
