ZZ - Classified Ad - Lucky (Courtesy Listing - Not affiliated with Planned Pethood)'s Story
Special Notes: Lucky is not officially in Planned Pethood. We are posting this as a courtesy to the owner. This dog is not in our care, and we cannot guarantee any statements here or made by the third party, including information about behavior or history.

Lucky’s journey has been far from lucky despite his name: he’s experienced abuse, abandonment, isolation, and instability in a home of domestic violence. Now safe with his aunt (among 9 dogs in a crowded home), he’s quietly waiting for someone who can understand that trust takes time and rewards it richly.

Lucky, given his traumatic past, has reactivated defensively when someone reached over his head—this was based on discomfort, not aggression. Calm, level introductions help him feel safe, and he bonds deeply once he knows he can trust you.

Walks are helping Lucky trust again: slow and steady wins the race. He’s calm during walks, which are especially important to him. He approaches new people slowly: let him meet you calmly at his level, and you’ll earn a lifetime of loyalty. He's very untrusting if people reach over his head due to his past (was beaten with a broom over his head).

His favorite things? Car rides (I’m a total road trip buddy!). Playing fetch (I chase that ball like there's no tomorrow!). Cuddles and belly rubs (I melt when you give me love!).

His ideal home? Someone patient and loving who’s ready to build trust with walks, treats, and quiet time. No other pets needed—he’d love to be your one and only. A quieter environment would allow Lucky to bloom at his own pace—someone ready for a deep bond built on consistency, respect, and mutual love. Given his past children are not recommended in the home.

Instead of dwelling on his past, let's focus on what makes him "him": gentle, eager to please, and a total sweetheart once you earn his trust. He will warm up, especially if there are belly scratches involved! Lucky is not asking for perfection—just a chance, a leash, and a lap to lean on.

For more information, please contact Laura at 419-409-9092 or email lauraldeleon7@gmail.com. His adoption fee is $200.

Please contact the owner directly; do not fill out a Planned Pethood application.
