Zuma's Story
Zuma is a sweet and well bred Shiba Inu. He gets along with older children and all people. He is 12 years old. He is microchipped, heart worm negative and current on vaccines. He is crate-trained, house-trained and knows basic commands. He is good with most calm dogs. If you are familiar with this breed, enjoy daily walks at least once a day, you may be the perfect companion for this gorgeous boy! Unlike most Shibas, this cutie enjoys being held and cuddled. He is 19 lbs, sesame, and super quiet. He is blind in one eye and has partial sight out of the other eye, but it doesn't hinder him from going for walks or being active. He has been diagnosed with glaucoma and will require daily eye drops (at the 8 hour, 12 hour and 24 hour interval) and quarterly visits to an eye specialist to check on his condition. There may also be a possibility that surgery or further procedure may be necessary if the eye drops no longer work.

He came to us from the South LA shelter where they tried to locate his owners through his microchip and license, but they never came from him. He is a super sweet dog and would be great in any adult home. If you have the means and time to care for this sweetie, please contact us.

The Shiba-Inu is a primitive breed, and a living national monument in their native Japan. They are not very affectionate dogs, but are extremely loyal to their family/owner. Similar to the Japanese Akita because of their appearance and fierce loyalty, Shiba-Inus are a great breed to adopt because they are small-sized dogs that are smart and loyal. They are also known to be escape artists and door-bolters. Adopters who have previously owned or are accustomed to this breed will be considered.
