Zoey's Story

If you are looking for a devoted, loving four-legged friend, beautiful Zoey may be your girl. She is a 7ish year old, 40# Aussie cuddlebug, who loves to go on long walks to monitor the neighborhood squirrels. She is well behaved on the leash and is more a walker than a sniffer. While she shyly refrains from greeting people and dogs that she doesn’t know, she is also able to ignore barking and territorial dogs, truly a superpower. Zoey is from a rural Montana farm, so she has had a big adjustment coming to the city and probably won’t be an urban lifestyle dog. Traffic and busy stores are scary, but she will stick with you.

Zoey's people told us she could do fine with a dog-savvy cat and in fact she can walk right by a seated cat. But she seems to want to chase a running cat, so that would be something to consider. Though a former farm-dog, she was definitely a beloved companion and is very well behaved indoors. Zoey also likes car rides. She's not a barker and is not destructive when left alone. Her favorite thing is to watch her person through the window when they depart, and the joyful reunion when they finally return!

Zoey has so far not expressed interest in toys or balls or training, but being an Aussie, she could learn to like them. So far, her person is her main source of fun and comfort. It's not all one-sided though, Zoey is willing to return her person's attention 100 times over - with kisses and smooches and wiggle-butts. Zoey is easy to please - all she wants is to be near you. Besides window watching, cuddling on the couch is one of Zoey's favorite activities.

Zoey is spayed and up to date on vaccines. She is located in Portland, OR.

If you are interested in adopting Zoey, please fill out the application on our website at: https://www.westernaustralianshepherdrescue.com/adoption-application.html.

We schedule meet n greets after a completed application which includes a home visit and reference checks.
