Ziggy (Reduced Rover)'s Story

Meet Ziggy - the Blue-Brindle, Underbite-Sporting Connoisseur of Cuddles

If joy had a mascot, it would be Ziggy.
If love had a shape, it would be 55 pounds of wiggly blue-brindle pittie.
And if perfection had an underbite... well, it would be this underbite.

Ziggy isn't just a dog.
She's a walking serotonin supplement, FDA-approved by children everywhere. In her previous home, her kid siblings considered her part sibling, part emotional support pillow, part comedic relief - and she adored them like they hung the moon, the stars, and the treat jar.

Her philosophy is simple:
All humans are best friends.
All of them. Yes, even that one.

Ziggy is kennel trained (actually... obsessed), house trained, and command-trained. Her kennel is her cozy studio apartment where she snuggles with her toys and contemplates life, snacks, and whether she should go pro in competitive napping. Hand her literally any toy, and she accepts it with the reverence of someone being gifted a Faberge egg. "For me? You shouldn't have. Actually, you should. Please continue."

She does enjoy chasing balls, but her retrieve game is... interpretive. She chases with Olympian enthusiasm and then returns with the spiritual energy of a poet wandering off to reflect. You didn't really want it back, did you?

Ziggy is a human-lover through and through, but when it comes to other animals, she politely says,
"No thank you, that will be all."
She's excellent on leash around them - courteous and composed - she'd simply prefer to be the only four-legged queen of her castle.

At around 7 years old, she is the ideal age: wise enough to know better, silly enough to do it anyway. Her low-grade heart murmur? The vet assures us it's likely genetic, stable, and not something she's losing a wink of sleep over. Ziggy says her heart is actually enormous - big enough to love a whole family - so of course it murmurs a little. It's full.

If you're searching for a blue-brindle cuddlebug with an underbite that could launch a thousand ships and a heart that could light a small town...

Ziggy is your girl.

PLEASE READ BELOW:

If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, the first step is to complete an application and read all of our FAQs:

https://www.takepawsrescue.org/adopt

Please note: Information to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application.
*An inquiry, questions or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application*
All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info will be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the high volume of introductions/questions received we ask you to submit an application (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue).

The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention.
For more on this, or for additional information, including the adoption process and our adoption fee scale for all our adoptable pets (including an explanation about Benefactor Dogs), please see our FAQs page:

https://www.takepawsrescue.org/faq

Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as our website, Chewy, Pet Finder, and others. These are in no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed.

***Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters across the South, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our animals live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it's the perfect match!
