Ziggy's Story

Meet Ziggy, a 120-pound, 18 month-old St. Bernard/Poodle mix. He’s as cool as his name, has a beautiful marbled coat, and is a playful, affectionate pup who loves belly rubs and head scratches. He will do well with praise and affection, because this boy wants to please you.

He does shed, so he will need weekly brushing as part of his routine to keep that beautiful coat maintained. Although he’s a big boy, he is a gentle giant with people once he gets to know them. As part of the breed, Ziggy is protective. Therefore, a slow and patient approach is required to make him comfortable. Expect him to put on a good show when strangers approach. He will need continued leash training as part of his daily routine, and will obviously require a strong handler. Ziggy is good with other dogs, but is reactive initially and does not share fences well in a neighborhood setting. Ziggy is friendly with kids who understand his boundaries. Because of his size and temperament, it’s best he is in a home without children.

Ziggy is potty trained and good when left alone in the home for two-three hours at a time. He knows the word “place” and will go there at meal times. As a large breed, Ziggy will cost more than smaller dogs in food and routine treatments, but he will give back 10-fold in love and loyalty. When you give Ziggy your heart, he gives you back two!

Ziggy’s adoption fee is $600 and he’s HW negative, current on all HW/Flea preventatives, microchipped and neutered. All adoption fees go toward expenses like medical and food for Doodle Dandy dogs and help make it possible for us to continue giving amazing pups like Ziggy a second chance.
