Ziggy's Story

Ziggy is a soft-hearted, soulful boxer who just needed a little time to realize the world could be kind and once he did, his sweet personality really started to shine.

When he first arrived, Ziggy was shy and unsure, but with patience and consistency, he’s grown into a much more affectionate and connected companion. These days, he’ll happily join you on the couch, leaning in for quiet company and showing his gentle, loving nature more and more each day.

Ziggy is the kind of dog who thrives on routine. He loves his walks, looks forward to mealtime, and does best in a home where life has a steady rhythm. He’s also wonderfully quiet, you won’t hear much barking from this guy, and he’s content to relax peacefully at home.

Like many boxers, Ziggy has a little independent streak and a sense of humor, meaning, sometimes he “forgets” to listen, but mention a treat and he’s all ears! He’s very food motivated, which makes continued training both fun and rewarding.

Ziggy is still working on a few things, including confidence with going outside in the rain and staying consistent with his potty routine. The good news is, he’s already making progress with positive reinforcement and just needs a home that will continue guiding him with patience and encouragement.

He would do best in a home where someone is around much of the time to help him continue building confidence and maintaining his routine. A yard to relax in would be a big bonus as Ziggy enjoys spending time outdoors, soaking in the fresh air at his own pace.

Ziggy is a good, gentle dog who simply needs someone willing to meet him where he is and help him keep growing. In return, you’ll get a loyal, low-key companion with a big heart and so much love to give.

If you’re looking for a sweet, steady presence by your side, Ziggy might just be your guy.

***For more information about this dog and information on how to apply to adopt, please visit www.ncbr.org***

Adoption Process At a Glance.

- Step 1 – Fill out the Adoption Application
- Step 2 – Preliminary Screening by Application Team which includes a Landlord Check (if applicable) and Vet Check
- Step 3 – Meeting with appropriate boxer(s)
- Step 4 – Home Visit
- Step 5 – Adoption Day

Adoption Requirements At a Glance.

* You must be 21 years of age.
* You must have a fenced in yard (exceptions can be made for certain dogs).
* All current pets in the household MUST be spayed/neutered and current on shots (yes, we do call and verify this information).
* Applicants with young children will be required to answer additional questions.
* Applicants that rent must provide landlord contact info.
