Zeus's Story

Zeus came to us through an unfortunate abandonment situation. However, he clearly has a positive outlook on life and not much brings him down! 🌞

If you're looking for a companion who only knows how to look sad for attention but is actually the most happy-go-lucky guy, Zeus might be your man! Not looking at Zeus? Well, prepare to find him sitting with his head down and eyes longing. He will sit like he's been stood up for a date until you approach. You'll feel bad that he looks so lonely and ask to walk him. This will magically cure his sadness!

And we are sure you'll fall in love with him. He does a good sit, loves treats, attention, and is sweet with kids. He needs a meet & greet with other dogs and can be cat tested on request.

Hudson Valley SPCA - Orange County's Adoption Policy
While we welcome your inquiries about individual pets from PetFinder, we would suggest that you come and visit our animals in person and speak with staff about them. An application for a dog or cat must be made before we can adopt a pet out. Applications include your information, personal references, a landlord reference/approval if you rent, and veterinary reference if you currently have or have had a pet in your home within the last 5 years. You may come to the shelter and pick up an application during our hours of operation, or you may print one from our website and email or drop off. You may indicate on the application if you have a particular animal in mind to adopt, or a particular breed or size, however we do not hold animals. Once your application is approved, we'll notify you to come and find your new family member! We do not charge a fee for our adoptions, however we do ask for a donation. That donation is to cover our medical expenses as all of our animals are vaccinated and spayed and neutered. They are also treated for any medical conditions such as heart worm, torn ligaments, cancer, and supplemental foods as needed. Averaging out all of these costs we ask a $300 minimum donation. We receive no funding from private or government agencies to financially support us and depend totally on donations to pay our vet bills so that no animal is denied medical care.
