Zeus's Story

𝙎𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙤𝙧 𝙞𝙣 𝙐𝙍𝙂𝙀𝙉𝙏 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙
This goodboy is Zeus, who just turned 9 years old last week. His family has run into hard times and have to place both of their dogs (female Rottweiler already rehomed). They bought their new home last year, two months before their baby was born. The baby has health issues which require extensive, ongoing weekly treatments, and in the course of this they’ve lost their home due to expenses and mom being unable to work while caring for the baby. They are selling their home and moving to an apartment and Zeus needs a new home.

I have not met Zeus in person but am told that although they only adopted Zeus a few years ago, he was a great addition to their family, good with the kids, other dogs, and even the cat. He is a naturally protective boy and very attached to Mom, and very protective of her. When the person who recently adopted the female Rottweiler in the home was leaving the other day, he nipped the person in the butt (not breaking skin). He is wary of strangers and feels protective of his family, so needs slow, easy introduction to visitors, or kept separated for the time the people are there. It is unknown how he was in his previous home, although he lived with a several young children there, and seems to be very attached to his kiddos.

Zeus is in need of a place for his golden years. He’s not neutered, and hasn’t been to the vet in a while (became defensive at the vet when his owner tried to take him in, and the vet would not treat him, so she hasn’t brought him back), but is a household pet, not super active at this point in his life, but enjoys his family time and his kids.. He’s house trained (prefers to be inside with his family, of course). Zeus has been around cats, small dogs, and chickens without concern, and knows some basic obedience (sit, paw, down).

His owner is at her wits end and has been looking for a home for him for 3 months. She has a lot on her plate, caring for the baby as well as a senior family member with dementia, and is concerned about having to euthanize Zeus if she can’t find a home for him.

Zeus is residing in Spanaway with his family currently.

Apply to adopt Zeus: https://forms.spdrdogs.org/Adoption/

Washington State only. No interstate transports.
