Zena's Story
Meet Zena

Zena is a 1-year-old, 45 lb sweetheart with a playful spirit and a heart that still believes in people - even after being left alone at an elementary school playground. She was found confused and scared, but despite that heartbreaking start, Zena has remained incredibly loving and trusting.

This girl is the perfect medium-sized companion: big enough for adventures, but just the right size to curl up beside you at the end of the day. Zena absolutely adores people, including kids, and loves being part of whatever her humans are doing. She's affectionate, playful, and clearly just wants to belong.

Zena already has some great manners under her belt. She is potty trained, kennel trained, and walks nicely on leash. She may pull a little at first - especially if a squirrel catches her eye - but she settles in quickly and enjoys getting out to explore the world with you. She does have a higher prey drive, so a home without cats would likely be the best fit.

Zena prefers the company of male dogs, and should be introduced slowly to any resident canines with patient and thoughtful transition time.

One thing Zena is still working on is feeling comfortable with her paws being handled. She doesn't love having her feet touched right now, but with patience and positive experiences, she will learn that gentle touch can be safe and kind.

Zena is looking for a home where she can finally experience the safety and love every dog deserves.

After being left behind once, Zena deserves a family who will show her that she's home for good.

Zena is eligible for our Foster-to-Adopt program, which means you can take some time to get to know her in your home before finalizing the adoption. It's a great way to ensure the perfect fit!

-----------------------------------------

If you're interested in adopting, please apply online at mscrescue.org/adopt.
