ZEKE's Story

MEET ZEKE….a handsome, tan/black, 4 yr old, 16.5 lb Lhasa Apso mix…(with what, we don’t know)! He hails from the Moreno Valley Shelter where his only weakness was being fearful. Not aggressive, no biting/nipping, no barking! He is a real gentleman – the best description we can give him. He arrived with a consistent reverse sneeze and a few sneezes here and there, so we are treating him with antibiotics to prevent any secondary infection.

Zeke has only been at LHH a short time, and we cannot figure out who would let him matted to the bone, unless he was left outside. That being said, he seems to be close to being housetrained — but we never guarantee! When he arrived, it was clear he never worn a collar, never walked on a leash and was very insecure. He’s very smart and learned in a day. On walks he does his business and definitely holds it! Now, he is running on the leash testing our ability to run as fast as he does! He gets a little nervous in the car when starting out and sometimes whimpers, but with affection and a hand on his back he settles down and loves the ride.

We have yet to hear Zeke bark. We know that he loves affection and gives gentle sweet kisses when he’s ready! He probably would be fine in a home where there are no other dogs, as long as he isn’t left alone but a few hours. We believe he would be good with older kids, would love a backyard where he could run around and get lots of exercise. If you are a runner, this is your guy, as he loves running on the leash! Does Zeke sound like a dog who could run away with your heart??
