Zara's Story
Meet Zara
Zara is a 4-year-old White Shepherd who came to our shelter after being left behind when a family member never returned to pick her up from the people who had been caring for her.

Staff describe Zara as shy and timid, especially in new situations. She is well behaved and easy to walk on leash and already knows how to sit on command. While she isn't immediately comfortable with a lot of handling, she does allow minimal handling and has shown that with time, patience, and trust, she can continue making progress.

Zara is sensitive to her surroundings and can become nervous with quick movements, so a home with older children who understand how to move slowly and respect her space would be ideal while she gains confidence.

She also appears to be intimidated and fearful around other dogs at this time. However, this may be a result of the shelter environment, and she could potentially do well with canine companions once she has had the opportunity to settle into a home and decompress.

Zara is looking for an adopter who understands that confidence-building takes time. With patience, consistency, and plenty of love, this sweet shepherd has the potential to blossom into a loyal and devoted companion
