We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails) .

Zamira | 5 month old Lab mix | Belly rub enthusiast

Zamira is a happy, affectionate puppy with a big personality and an even bigger heart. This sweet Lab mix loves just about everyone she meets — people, kids, and other dogs alike. She’s playful, friendly, and always ready for an adventure, whether that’s a walk around the neighborhood, a game of fetch, or wrestling with her dog friends. After she’s burned off some puppy energy, she’s more than happy to cuddle up next to you, rest her head in your lap, offer you her paw for attention, or roll over for belly rubs.

At around 30 pounds and still growing, Zamira is an active girl who would thrive in a home that enjoys getting outside and staying busy. She loves toys, rope toys especially, chewing on bones, and working on peanut butter-filled Kongs. She already knows “sit” and is eager to learn more — especially when treats are involved. She’s doing well with structure and training overall, though like any puppy, she still has some bumps in the road while settling in and learning the rules.

Zamira is almost house trained and will stand by the door when she needs to go outside. She’s also making progress with kennel training and will settle after a little whining or barking. On leash, she does pretty well but can get excited and pull at times. She has done great with other dogs and would likely love having a canine sibling to play with. She has also interacted positively with children, though her enthusiasm and energy can sometimes be a bit much for very little ones. She’s curious about cats and wants to play, though the resident cats may not agree.

As a young puppy, Zamira is still working on things like play biting and learning better manners around food, so her future family should be committed to continued training, structure, and positive reinforcement. In return, they’ll get a goofy, loving, loyal companion who is ready to be part of all of life’s adventures.

Click here for more photos of Zamira!

If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives! A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.

The adoption fee for this pet is $475 (includes a $50 refundable puppy training deposit). Our adoption fee covers the following:

Spay/neuter

Microchip

DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.

Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.

Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption.

Please fill out an adoption application by clicking here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process!

Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls.PLEASE NOTE: The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter. Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets. Here is some interesting info on breed identification: https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/

Our adoption process is:

1. Fill out our Adoption Application online. We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet.

2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting. Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!
