Zaki's Story

❤️ Hi, I'm Zaki! And I'm Looking for My Person.

My story didn't start out with much luck. I began my life on the tough streets of Oman, where life was anything but easy. Thankfully, a wonderful rescue group gave me a chance and brought me all the way to the United States, where Gold Coast Greyhound Adoptions welcomed me and promised to help me find a place to call home.

I thought I had found it once before, but life in a busy household with lots of dogs was overwhelming for me. I was anxious and scared, and it became clear that I needed something different. The wonderful people at GCGA stepped in and gave me another chance. This time, they're determined to find the home where I can truly shine. So, let me tell you what I'm looking for. I want PEOPLE. Just people. My people!

I'm not interested in making dog friends, visiting dog parks, or going for neighborhood walks where I have to meet other dogs. Honestly, I'm perfectly happy enjoying my own fenced backyard and then heading inside to claim my favorite spot on the couch. Think of me as your one-and-only companion! I'm happy being the only pet in the home, and I don't need a busy social calendar. I just want someone to love, someone to hang out with, and someone whose best friend I can be. I also do beautifully when you're away, so you don't have to worry about me getting into trouble while you're gone.

I'm about four years old, a handsome mix of Mini Shepherd and Husky (that's our best guess!), and my name, Zaki, means pure or intelligent in Oman. Pretty fitting, don't you think? I've even attended training school and did wonderfully! I know how to sit, stay, shake paws, and come when called. My new foster is helping me polish those skills, and I'm proud to show off what I've learned. My days are pretty wonderful now. I start with a yummy breakfast, sometimes with a little canned food or special treats like eggs. Then I head outside to inspect my yard, keep an eye on the birds and squirrels, and make sure everything is just as it should be. After all that important work, I enjoy a good nap and some TV time. My favorite? Cesar Millan! I watch him with great interest, then snuggle up next to my favorite human. Oh, and I give HUGS! Yes, actual hugs. I have lots of love to give once I know you're my friend. My foster thinks I'm a very good boy and loves me dearly. But what I really need is someone who understands that not every dog wants a house full of pets or adventures around the neighborhood. Some of us are happiest simply being someone's special companion. Maybe you're someone who doesn't have pets because you don't want the commitment of daily walks, dog parks, or managing multiple animals. Maybe you've been waiting for a loyal buddy who is happy just being home with you. If that sounds like you, I think we should meet. I've traveled a long way, had a few bumps along the road, and been given a second chance. All I need now is one person, one couch, one backyard, and one place where I finally belong. I promise to bring the hugs, the companionship, and a whole lot of love. I don't need a pack. I just need YOU. Love, Zaki ❤️ .

🐾 A little note about my past: I was previously known as Cesar/Azyr, but I've been given a new name and a fresh start. After finding my way back to the people who first cared for me, it's time for a new chapter filled with love, hope, and brighter days ahead. ❤️ •

Website: https://www.goldcoastgreyhounds.org/ • Phone: (727) 786-3278 • Email: gcgagulfcoast@gmail.com
