ZACH - YOUNG YORKIE/MALTESE CUTIE!!!

Zach is my name and Fetch is my game.<br/><br/>I am pleased to introduce you to Zach. He is a happy 7 month old, fun loving energetic Morkie (Maltese/Yorkie). We know his age and that he is a Morkie, because his former owners told the shelter that they were told he was a Morkie when they paid $500 for him several months ago. Unfortunately he was a little too active for the family’s older poodle and they surrendered him to the shelter. <br/>One of the nice things about Morkies is that they usually do not shed. However, their hair does grow long if you don’t cut it. Morkies need to be brushed regularly so their hair doesn’t become matted. Zach has very unusual coloring. When his hair is long, it is white with black tips. Several people have asked that I keep his hair long so that potential adopters can see his beautiful and unique coloring. However, he is matted, and if I am not able to get the mats out, he will need to be shaved.<br/>Zach is a lover not a fighter. He loves to play and is constantly trying to get the other dogs in the household to play with him. The smallest dog in the house is a little Maltepoo who does not like playing and she will bite at him when she has had enough. He never fights back though—even though he is well over twice her size. <br/>Zach loves to play fetch. I don’t know how long he will continue to bring the toy back, because after about 15-20 minutes—I get tired of throwing the toy and put it away. He has always still been ready to bring it back to me. Although he loves playing so far, with the exception of my footies and the one time I was picking up a dead bug with a paper towel and Zach grabbed the paper towel out of my hand and tried to get me to chase him, Zach has not shown a tendency to go after anything he shouldn’t—but I am careful to be sure that there are plenty of toys around for him to play with. Next to playing fetch, Zach’s favorite things in the world are belly rubs, licking faces, and eating—he loves his kibbles. <br/>Zach would probably benefit from a bit of training. As I said, Zach is a lover—unfortunately he likes to show his love by lick faces. We have been working on teaching him that puppies do not have to be quite so demonstrative. He has gotten better, but you need to beware—he still has the fastest tongue in Texas.<br/>The people who surrendered Zach said he was 75% house trained. I think they may have been a little bit optimistic—but he does have a good start on housetraining. He is still young, but if he is let out regularly he doesn’t have accidents in his crate. Zach will do his “business” outside when you take him out—but he does not ask to go out when he needs to. <br/>If you are looking for an entertaining, playful, fun loving companion, consider Zach. <br/><br/><br/>**Due to the nature of our adoption process, this foster is only able to consider forever families within 15 miles of ZIP CODE 75023. We are only able to adopt to homes within a reasonable driving distance of the dog's foster home and please be prepared for a home visit by one of our volunteers. We do not adopt on first-come-first-served basis, we want to make sure the dog is right for the family and vice versa based on what we know about the dog's personality, habits and behaviors.
