Yogurt's Story

Deaf-initely Delightfully Sweet

This gorgeous gal with the striking green eyes is Yogurt, a one-year-old recent mama with a gentle heart. She came to us from Pasco County in February with her babies in tow and while her pups, named after favorite flavors, went off to their own forever homes, Yogurt began her own journey in a loving foster home and learned more about how to relax, play, and simply be a dog.

Yogurt's heart shaped nose is a statement of her affection, both in giving and receiving love. She may start off a little cautious, taking her time to feel safe, but it doesn’t take long before she’s following you around, asking for attention and companionship. She warms to people faster than other dogs right now and with respectful slower introductions and patience, she is learning that she can build other dog friendships too.

One of Yogurt’s unique traits is that she is deaf. She doesn’t know any differently, but it does make her a bit more aware of her surroundings since she can’t hear what’s coming. Even so, she’s already learned a few hand signals and, thanks to her love of treats, has great potential to learn even more. She can also be a bit fancy and prefers to eat from a plate rather than a bowl.

She gets so excited to get dressed for walkies and is great on a leash, though she prefers to take care of her "potty" business in the comfort of a fenced yard, which will be required since it is important for her routine, and safety. Yogurt has gone on several pack walks and does well walking alongside other dogs, and actually enjoys it, as long as they allow her to engage at her pace.

Yogurt is crate-trained and potty-trained, and at around 35 pounds, she’s the perfect size for couch cuddles—or even sharing your bed, if you let her. Once she feels comfortable, her playful side shines through with joyful zoomies and invitations to play with trusted dog friends. She has not spent much time with children however if they are able to respect how they approach her, 8 years and older would be best. She's never been around cats.

With a bit of patience and a lot of love, Yogurt will happily show you what an incredibly loyal and loving companion she is. She’s ready for a home where she can continue to grow, feel safe, and finally enjoy being someone’s baby, too.

Yogurt is spayed, micro-chipped and up to date on vaccinations and preventives.
