YODA's Story
Don't let Yoda's looks fool you; he may look like he means business, but in reality, he's just a big goofball and a cuddly teddy bear!

This boy will steal your heart! He’s an active teenager, but at the same time, he's no stranger to being a complete couch potato. He loves to curl up next to you on the couch or flip over and get belly rubs.

Yoda lives up to the reputation of his (predominant) breed, Mountain Cur, as he's extremely intelligent, highly treat-motivated (easily trained), and neither menacing nor shy. He is still working on some of his 'manners' (basic obedience), but we’re confident he’ll be able to master these skills with a little more time.

Mountain Curs are known to try to please their humans and generally get along well with children and other pets. Yoda is no exception, as he gets along well with his 7 foster siblings and is a sweet, happy-go-lucky boy. He is loyal and protective of his family and will react to perceived threats by barking. However, he quickly quiets down once instructed and becomes the friendliest, tail-wagging boy.

Yoda is curious; he loves car rides and visiting new places with new smells. Since Mountain Curs were originally bred to work (hunt, guard, or herd animals), if deprived of exercise and mental stimulation (sniff walks, playing fetch, etc.), they can sometimes grow anxious and bored. Yoda usually spends his day playing (he loves new toys!), exploring the farm with his nose, lounging under a tree chewing a stick, or snoozing on the couch.

Yoda was a puppy when he was found with his sister Wookie. They were homeless, living on the beach and emaciated when we rescued them. However, this pair has proven to be extremely resilient, affectionate, and well-adjusted. Yoda has been living with a foster family since he came to Canada in April 2022.

Health
Yoda is approximately 18 months old, healthy, neutered, and up to date on his vaccinations and flea, tick & heartworm preventatives. Mountain Curs can live up to 14–16 years, and there are no reported breed-specific health issues.
