Xia's Story

Xia, pronounced She-uh, is a 6-year old, fuzzy female Galgo. She is a VERY nervous dog who needs an experienced, patient adopter who loves her for who she is, meets her where she's at, and doesn't set expectations for how she should open up.

Xia has been in a multi-dog foster home for 3 weeks. Her personality comes out ever so slightly each day. She is slowly bonding with her foster mom - wagging her tail when she comes home, wiggling around in excitement, and showing her goofy side. However for new people, she is very shut down. She finds a corner as far as possible from people, and watches. She typically stays on the couch all day (even to eat!) unless it's time to go outside. Though she enjoys being out there, she needs encouragement, sometimes being leashed up to go out. Once out there, she explores, goes to the bathroom, and gets excited to come back in.

Her foster mom has been slowly pushing her out of her comfort zone and she's handling it well. She went for a neighborhood walk and was braver than expected! She would be a lovely addition to a home with 1-2 people, a routine, not a lot of visitors or commotion, and at least one other dog. We cannot wait to see her in her forever home!

Fostered in Winter Park, FL but adoptable to more than half the USA. Xia is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, and has no known health issues.
