Xena's Story

Meet Xena! She was rescued from a hoarding situation in Navajo County with 47 husky mixes on one property. Despite this, she is a happy, playful, outgoing girl who has showed so much resilience. She was a little nervous her first night in foster care, but has really settled in since then.

Xena loves food, is resourceful, and can be a bit of a climber! She will wolf down her meals and is food motivated. Xena figured out the doggie door in 20 minutes and has had zero accidents in the house, which is pretty amazing all things considered. She did not come to us with any experience with crate training. She is great with other dogs large and small and loves to play. There are kids in her foster home and she has been great with them – we think kids ages 3+ would be no problem for her. Xena does seem to have some limitations on her hearing, though thankfully isn’t fully deaf. Her foster said she can definitely can hear louder and higher pitch noises, but won’t react or respond to other sounds. They have not experienced issues with chewing, countersurfing or destructive behavior, but she is a puppy so these things may happen as she grows and learns her role in a new home. Her favorite thing is to jump around on patio furniture, though she does act much more dignified with furniture in the home.

She is a medium energy pup and would thrive with someone who can walk, train, and provide the love and care she deserves. Because she likes to climb, good fencing is a must and no large objects up against the fence she could climb over – she hasn’t shown a desire to escape thankfully! She lives for meal time, belly rubs, and loves to lay on feet and lick toes. She is truly a happy pup ready for her forever home and to take on the world!

Apply to meet Xena: https://azhuskyrescue.com/adoption-application/
