Xena's Story

Xena is incredibly good-natured and sweet. She loves other dogs, and she's very gentle and patient. Because Xena has spent most of her time around other dogs, humans can be a little tricky for her to understand. She loves to be pet and to play, especially chase (so long as she's the one chasing YOU)! But, she is a bit baffled by the way humans move and communicate sometimes which is a little startling for her.<br/><br/>She has the sweetest little wagging tail that she waves around when she's unsure, just to let you know that she's friendly and sweet, even if you're a really weird human and she hasn't figured you out just yet. We are hopeful to rehome Xena with a family that will be a lot of fun! But also know when to slow down and let her adjust to new things. If that sounds like you, come and meet her! Our adoption policies are designed to ensure the best possible match between our shelter dogs and their future families. Every prospective adopter completes an application that helps us understand their lifestyle, home environment, and experience with pets. This allows us to recommend dogs whose energy level, temperament, and care needs align well with the household. We encourage meet-and-greets with all household members—including other dogs—to promote a smooth transition. All dogs are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and medically evaluated prior to adoption. We take time to discuss each dog’s personality, history (when known), and any special needs so adopters can make an informed decision. Adoption fees help cover veterinary care and daily shelter costs. Our goal is not simply to place dogs quickly, but to create lasting, successful adoptions that benefit both the dog and the adopter.
