Wyatt's Story
Wyatt's adoption fee has been sponsored by Brittany Peppelman and Braden Darrah

Meet Wyatt!

In these beautiful photos of Wyatt, you probably noticed that he's a very handsome boy-with the best puppy dog eyes and a phenomenal grumpy lip. What you might also notice (and be curious about) are his swollen front legs, especially at his carpus, or "wrist," joint.

Wyatt is suffering from an autoinflammatory condition called Hypertrophic Osteodystrophy (HOD). This painful condition causes inflammation in the growing bones of puppies. The condition is episodic, with each flare typically lasting a few weeks, and can occur until the growth plates close, usually between 1-2 years of age. Some dogs experience multiple episodes of HOD, while others go into complete remission after just one.

In most cases, HOD can be managed by controlling the symptoms-primarily the pain-through anti-inflammatory medications and restricted activity. Most dogs who suffer from HOD go on to live very normal lives.

Wyatt is 8 months old, and his breed mix is a guess- a little bit of this and a little bit of that! He is as sweet as can be, and truly just wants to be around and loving on people. He is laid-back, snuggly, has lived with children before, and deserves someone truly special.

If you are interested in being considered for them please apply on our website at www.angelsretreat.org

Angel's Retreat
West Chester, PA
PA Kennel License 17335

Note: Wyatt has been vaccinated, but with this condition future vaccinations need to be carefully discussed with a veterinarian. Vaccines can trigger episodes in this autoimmune condition, so titers may be suggested as an alternative to ensure antibodies are present to protect against disease, during his growth years.
