WOODIE's Story

Meet Woodie—the distinguished gentleman who's traded puppy chaos for a well-balanced life.

At 7 years old, Woodie has his priorities straight. He enjoys leisurely walks, already knows sit, takes treats like a gentleman, and believes every day should include a toy (preferably a favorite stuffy).

Out in the yard, you'll often find him relaxing in his cozy igloo with his beloved plush toy, living his best life. It's basically his private clubhouse.

Woodie arrived at the shelter with some skin issues, but thanks to medicated baths, he's feeling better every day. In fact, he enjoys his spa treatments so much you'd think he has a monthly membership complete with VIP perks.

He's treat motivated, easy to walk, and past all the puppy shenanigans. Instead, he's offering something even better: a calm, sweet companion who's mastered the art of enjoying life's simple pleasures.

Woodie came to our shelter with another dog and they shared a kennel together before the other dog got adopted. When they first arrived a couple months ago, we were able to get him into our shelter playgroups. He didn't seem that interested in making new dog friends. We recently tried to introduce him again, and he seemed even less willing to make new dog friends. Since we know he previously lived with another dog, he may be able to live with a new dog if their owner is dog savvy, experienced at reading dog body language, and willing to do slow introductions over a matter of weeks or months. Videos of Woodie in our shelter playgroups:

To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm. All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To help expedite the meet and greet process, please make note of my Animal ID number, and those of other dogs you might be interested in meeting. Be sure to bring your ID with you, too. We are located at 3839 Bradshaw Road, Sacramento. I look forward to getting to know you!
