Wonder Bread's Story
Life can be pretty tough for a Chicago dog. Wonder Bread came to us with lots of signs he hasn’t had it easy. He was underweight, dirty, scared from whatever he was tied out with, and infected eyes and other small scabs. Yet he was happy to make a new friend. Wonder Bread is special. He probably is an eternal optimist. The way he reluctantly gives paw and listens to commands without needing a reward makes him darn near perfect. He is a softie despite his hard life.

Chicago Animal Care and Control is located at 2741 S. Western Ave., Chicago, IL, and is open from 12pm to 7pm daily. Walk-in visitors are welcome and helped on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are planning to adopt the day you visit, please plan to arrive before 5:30pm. Visitors arriving after 5:30pm will still be able to view animals in Pavilions A-B-C until 7pm.

All dogs will be spayed/neutered and vaccinated before adoption.

All household members should be present to meet dogs (especially those under 18 and any decision-makers).

We recommend and can arrange dog-to-dog meet and greets for your current dog(s) to meet a potential dog sibling at the shelter. You will need to show proof of up-to-date rabies vaccination for your dog(s). Slow, cautious, and appropriate introductions are recommended after you allow time for decompression for the shelter dog.

If you have any questions, please email cacc.vol.coord@gmail.com

A303085
