Winston's Story

Hello! I'm Winston! My journey to rescue began in a pretty scary way. One day, while I was at the vet clinic, a kind rescue volunteer overheard the vet talking about someone planning to take me to the shelter to be euthanized because of my severely injured leg. Thankfully, that volunteer stepped in, offered to take me instead, and completely changed my life. I had to have my leg amputated, and learn to walk on three legs, but I am so grateful for my second chance.

I enjoy playing with my doggie friends, but at the end of the day, I'm happiest spending time snuggling on the couch. Walks are fun, although I do have one funny little quirk. When it's time to put on my leash, I sometimes flatten myself on the ground as if I've forgotten how to stand. Give me a couple of gentle tugs, though, and I'm ready to head out on our adventure. I'm house and kennel trained and am generally a quiet guy. I rarely bark unless all my foster siblings decide it's time to make some noise.

I am neutered, up to date on my vaccines, on a monthly heartworm/flea/tick preventive. I am currently in the Paws In Prison program where I am learning new tricks the how to be the best doggie ever. If you're looking for a resilient, affectionate, and loyal best friend with an inspiring story and an even bigger heart, I just might be your perfect match.
