He is outgoing and friendly and gregarious, always has a twinkle in his eye - makes you wonder what he is thinking up or what adventure he has planned. He also would be the kind of person who jokes around and makes everyone laugh. Making life interesting and joyful for others. Sometimes his foster family thinks he is half human. Winston talks and warbles and makes noises as though he is trying to converse. He is highly intelligent as well, usually a step ahead of everyone else. So this boy with the tall ears is always listening and very much aware of his surroundings and what is going on. Winston needs humans who can keep up with him and enjoy his quirky personality. He loves going for walks and needs exercise. He loves running in the fenced in yard and watching every single thing that is happening across the fence. He will even curl up at night and sleep with you if you let him. Winston is one of a kind and for families who like uniqueness! <br/><br/>Update 4/25/2025. Winston is a unique kind of dog. Besides his big ears that stand up straight when he is concentrating, he is a spirited and energetic boy and has a zest for life. Every day he’s ready for a new adventure, whether it just be a walk around the neighborhood or playtime in the yard. He finds each new sight and sound exciting and worth investigating. If you are ready for some new excitement in your life, this boy will join you in your search for it! Winston is about one and a half years old and weighs about 42 pounds.<br/><br/>Update 5/16/2024. Winston is now about 10 months old and a lively spirited boy. His breed traits are becoming more evident, and he definitely has some shepherd and border collie in him. With his high energy level, he needs plenty of exercise, yet he does settle nicely after some romps in the yard and walks in the neighborhood. He bonds very closely with his family members and can be protective of them. He seems to do best with older children and adults, so will not be placed in a home with young children. He’s a talker and uses his voice fairly often, sometimes barking, but mostly as though he is just chatting with moans and groans and funny sounds. Definitely an interesting boy. And always something new to learn about him! <br/><br/>Posted 1/25/2024. Sweet and energetic and an all-around amazing boy. This describes Winston, a friendly and outgoing six-month old pup who has the cutest pair of stand up ears that you've ever seen. Winston is a border collie and shepherd mix. He has wonderful qualities of both breeds. And he is quite handsome. At six months of age he weighs about 45 pounds and probably still has some growing to do. He loves people and that is evident in every interaction with him. He responds well to commands and will charm and win over everyone he meets. He also is very playful and submissive with other dogs and likes to run off his energy with them. No one can quite catch him as he dashes around the yard with a joyful spirit. He is an intelligent and sensitive dog as well. Winston loves to go for walks and is good on a leash. He is also crate trained. If you are looking for a best friend who will be loyal and affectionate, this is the boy for you. Because Winston is still young and needs attention and care, he is looking for a home where his family is not away for more than four hours in a day. He is the kind of dog that can win a human’s heart very quickly and hold onto it forever.<br/><br/>Adoption application, home visit and adoption fee required. Look under VOLUNTEER tab.<br/><br/>As part of our adoption agreement, we require that you and your adopted canine attend a minimum of one group basic obedience course within 4 months of adoption. If adopting a puppy under 4 months old, we also require a group puppy socialization course be started immediately upon adoption.<br/><br/>In addition, we require that puppies under 6 months of age will not be alone for more than 4 hours at a time in an 8 hour workday.
