Meet Winny (pronounced Vinny)

Hi there! My name is Winny (pronounced Vinny). I come to you all from the Greece originally. I was rescued from the streets there and remained in a shelter until the good folks at the rescue could find another rescue in Canada to take me in. There are just way too many of us abandoned dogs in Greece to find us homes locally. Luckily, Sophie's dog Adoption in Montréal had a foster home able to take me in so off I went to begin my new life.

I'm 3 years old, weigh 65 lbs and seem to be a Shepard mix (best guess). Whatever I am, I'm awesome! To know me is to love me. I'm your typical happy-go-lucky sweet pooch who loves to meet people, gets along well with other dogs and loves to play. I'm a medium energy big boy so I'll need a fairly active family to keep me fit, happy and balanced. I would be a good candidate for docile children over 10 years old just because of my size and the fact that I can jump up on people when very excited and I use my mouth when I play. I chase cats so I'm not a good candidate to live with them. I'm in excellent health but do seem to have the very beginning of a cherry eye that is being monitored at this time. It does not cause me any discomfort. You can barely see it.

I've learned a lot since my arrival. My foster mom is very dog savvy. Here is what she has to say about me...

"Vinny is doing soooo well! He is still a bit leash reactive but its gradually lessening in intensity each time! Sometimes he just walks by totally not bothered. He does well in the dog park and I've had my friend's dog over to my place and he's behaved really well.
.
Walks with him are so pleasant, he is able to spend time at home alone (isn't destructive or vocal!!!) and his food aggression is non existent with humans (you can easily take away bones, treats etc and I can feed him with my hand in the bowl). He's basically a very gentle giant.
.
He has started to roll over and let me pet his belly too!! We're working on his play because he can get mouthy when he gets playful and excited but it's never aggressive, just a behaviour best ended.
.
I groom him once a day and proud to report that he sheds 90% less and is mat-free!!!!.
He's just a big sweetheart, eager to please, intelligent. calm and adapts quickly to lots of environments!"

So, if you think I'm the dog for you and you're ready to commit to my well-being for the rest of my life, please download the adoption request form located at www.sophiesdogadoption.com under "application forms" asap!
