Winnifred in CO's Story

The adoption process starts with an Online Adoption Application you can find at 'https://www.adoptaboston.com/adoption-application.
Phone interviews do not take place til after an approved application is on file and we have a possible match for your home

My name is Winnifred. I am 3 years old (DOB: 9/23/2022) and weigh 26 lbs. I could probably stand to lose a couple of pounds. I need a new home as I unfortunately killed a kitten in the house so a home with NO cats please. I am being fostered in Longmont, CO.

I love to be around my humans. Whenever they leave the room, I watch for them until they return. When I first got to my foster home, I wasn’t much for cuddling and preferred to lay on the floor rather than on the couch next to them. Until nighttime, that is. Then I want to sleep next to them on the couch. But during the day, I am a true Boston – gotta find the sun beams and lay in them. Now that I’ve had some time to decompress, I am much more into cuddling with my humans.

I have a habit of scratching at gates. I scratched at the gate in the yard and got it to open. I am pretty sure my human didn’t close it properly. I’ve also scratched at the gate in the house and got it opened as well. I only do this when I’m looking for my humans so I need a yard and house that I can’t break out of. The good thing is that when I opened the outside gate, I did not run away. Mom found me in the driveway just looking around.

I get along with my foster brother and sister ...we all get along great. I’m not really into play though.

I would rather not walk on wooden or linoleum floors. My foster parents suspect that my original home only had carpeted floors. The good thing is, I stay out of the kitchen when my foster parents are in there!

I need a family that is patient with me. My foster mom thinks I probably wasn’t socialized much so I am learning how to dog and to play. I am getting more excited about playing every day. My foster parents think that I will come out of my shell more and more because they are seeing my growth.

Here's a little more about me:
Housetrained? Yes
Leash-trained? Yes
Rides well in car? Yes
Good with other dogs? Yes
Good with cats? NO
Good with young children? Unknown
Shy or confident? Shy at first
Apartment qualified? Yes, if she’s taken out to potty on a regular basis.
Any Special needs or Health Issues? She arrived with a rash on her tummy. It is unknown what caused it. She’s been on Benadryl and a spray for a week now and it is gone.

Additional Comments: We were told that Winnifred is aggressive and growls and nips when people are “in her area”. We haven’t seen ANY of that kind of behavior from her. She is very curious and watches us like a hawk. We suspect that she is like that because she wasn’t given a lot of attention. When she gets pats and loving, she easily (and happily) accepts it. When we come home from errands, she is always happy to see us and shakes her butt and tail in excited anticipation. She really is a sweet and lovely Boston
Adoption Fee? $ 450

The adoption process starts with an Online Adoption Application you can find at ''https://www.adoptaboston.com/adoption-application.

All our dogs are spayed/neutered (if six months and older), up to date on rabies and distemper, heartworm tested, and microchipped.
