Winnie's Story

Meet Winnie
Location: Bourbonnais, IL
DOB: 4/2/22

Winnie is a playful, affectionate girl who loves being close to her people. She forms strong bonds with her family and would be happiest in a home where someone is around most of the time. If you're looking for a loyal companion who wants to be by your side, Winnie may be the perfect match.

She has a moderate energy level and enjoys spending time outdoors, especially chasing tennis balls in the backyard. In fact, tennis balls are her absolute favorite toy! Watching her play is sure to make you smile, especially when her big floppy ears bounce around as she runs.

Winnie is incredibly loving and is always looking for attention. She enjoys giving gentle "love nibbles" and thrives on affection from her favorite people. She is house-trained, crate-trained, travels well, and is continuing to improve her leash manners.

While Winnie is sweet and eager to please, she is still working on some puppy-like behaviors, including jumping, play biting, and counter surfing. She will do best with a patient owner who is committed to continuing her training and helping her develop good manners.

Winnie can be shy around new people, particularly men, but she warms up quickly with patience and a few treats. When visitors first arrive, she may bark, but once she feels comfortable, she becomes friendly and affectionate.
She currently lives with other dogs and gets along well with them, although she can be a little jealous when attention is shared. She would likely enjoy having a younger canine companion to play with. Winnie is food protective and should be fed separately from other pets.

Winnie also lives peacefully with a senior male cat and shows very little interest in him. She enjoys older children and loves playing with teenagers. Because of her tendency to jump when excited, a home without small children would be the best fit.

Winnie's ideal home:
Someone home most of the day
A patient owner committed to ongoing training
A fenced yard where she can run and play
No small children
A younger dog companion would be a bonus
If you're looking for a loving, devoted, and fun companion who will happily become your shadow, Winnie is ready to find her forever home.

===============================================================================
To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .

Note: SRGDRR adopts nationwide and offers transport options to help you find your perfect match! Team Rocky Enterprises, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
How Our Adoption Process Works Team Rocky Enterprises DBA Save Rocky the Great Dane Rescue and Rehab (SRGDRR) follows a thoughtful adoption process designed to ensure the best possible match for both our dogs and their future families. Our available dogs are posted on our website, Facebook page, and multiple adoption platforms, including Petfinder. Once you find a dog you’re interested in, the process includes: 1. Adoption Application – This helps us learn about you, your household, and what you’re looking for in a dog so we can make the best match. 2. Veterinary Reference Check – We verify that current or past pets have received appropriate veterinary care. First-time pet owners are welcome and encouraged to apply. 3. Phone Interview – This is a chance for us to talk with you about the dog you’re interested in, including personality, needs, medical history, and any quirks. It’s also your opportunity to ask questions about the dog and our rescue. 4. Home Check – We confirm that your home environment is safe and appropriate for the dog, whether that includes a fenced yard or a leash-walking setup. This is not a housekeeping inspection—just a safety check. Once all steps are completed and approved, you’ll sign an adoption contract and submit an adoption donation. From there, your new forever friend will be ready to head home! Why This Process Matters Our goal is to match each dog with a home that best meets their needs. Some dogs thrive with experienced owners, while others do best with someone who is home most of the day or understands specific behavioral or medical needs. Taking the time to get this right helps ensure lifelong, successful adoptions. Our Lifetime Commitment If at any point you are unable to keep your adopted dog, you must contact us. We will always take our dogs back. We never want them to end up in unsafe situations or shelters again. Our responsibility to each dog lasts for their lifetime. Thank you for choosing rescue and for considering adoption with SRGDRR.
