Winnie's Story
My name is Winnie, and I’m a chocolate Labrador, all seventy-five pounds of me. For the first two years of my life, things were… different. I was a mama bird, twice over, and my days were mostly about whelping puppies. Now? Now I’m learning what “happy” and “safe” feel like, and let me tell you, it’s wonderful.

My absolute favorite thing is playing fetch. You throw the ball, and I’m off like a shot! I could do it for hours. Afterward, a good bully stick or an antler keeps me busy, but nothing beats food. Oh, I LOVE food. I’m a big eater, but don’t worry, I’m not possessive about it. Everyone can have their share.

I have a resident cat, and while sometimes I think playing chase with her is fun, we get along pretty well. And the dog? He’s my best buddy. We love to curl up together. Nights are pretty great too, curled up on our people’s bed.

Car rides are the best! And walks are good, though I’m still learning not to pull. Squirrels, though… they’re a whole other story. If I see one, all bets are off!

I’m a bit of a shadow, always following my person around. It feels good to be wanted. I met a tiny human, my person’s grandson, and I was very interested, sniffing him a lot. I think I’d be good with kids, but maybe not the really little ones, because I have so much energy. I do have a habit of jumping, especially when I’m excited, and at my size, it’s not always safe. We’re working on that, and I’m getting better!

I’m a smart girl, I’ve learned so much in the time I’ve been here. A fenced yard would be ideal because I love to run. And while I love my people, I think having another dog to play with and learn from would be amazing. This second chance is amazing!!!

If you are interested in adopting, please go to our website at www.lolin.org and click on Adopt, Apply for a Dog. From there, you can submit an Adoption Application to be considered for this dog. You MUST be an approved applicant to meet LOLIN dogs. There is no central location or hours to meet dogs.
