Winks's Story
The Gentle Boy Finding His Happy

Winks is 6 months old, 25 pounds, and already acting like he’s been practicing how to be someone’s perfect dog his whole life.

We’re calling him a Lab/Hound mix, which feels right—he’s got that easygoing, people-loving Lab energy mixed with just enough hound curiosity to keep life interesting (and occasionally sniff-based).

Winks came from a cruelty case, but you won’t find him dwelling on it. He’s been quietly, steadily coming out of his shell—learning that life can be soft, safe, and actually pretty fun. And watching that shift happen in real time? It’s something special.

Day-to-day life with Winks looks like this: you’re moving around the house, and he’s right there nearby, checking in, learning the rhythm, figuring out where he fits. You sit down, and he’s already found his spot—tucked in close like he belongs there.

He’s starting to let himself be a puppy in the ways he always deserved—playful moments, curious exploring, little bursts of joy that show up more and more each day. It’s not over-the-top chaos—it’s thoughtful, genuine, and honestly kind of beautiful to watch.

Winks would love a home that keeps things kind, consistent, and a little cozy. A dog sibling could be a great influence, but more than anything, he just wants his people—someone who sees him, roots for him, and lets him keep becoming himself.

Because this isn’t just a dog finding a home—this is a dog learning what it means to be happy in one.

Adopt Winks. He’s just getting started.

+++++++

ADOPTION APPLICATION:
https://form.jotform.com/260401018308040

+++++++

Tux is currently being fostered in Texas and will be transported to the perfect forever home by our rescue! We have transports departing each week!

+++++++

The Truth About Rescue:

Every rescue pup is a work in progress — and that’s the beauty of it. None of them come wrapped in a bow, ready-made or mistake-free. They come with stories, quirks, and hearts that have seen a lot but still choose to trust again.

Adoption isn’t about perfection; it’s about presence. Showing up for them, every day, until they know they’re finally home. That’s when you’ll see them bloom — soft and steady — into the very best version of themselves. And somewhere along the way, you’ll realize they were never the only one being rescued.

+++++++

Once we have received your application, we will review and reach out to set-up an interview with one of our volunteers! If you have additional questions, please email us at SaintMuttsInquiries@gmail.com.

Note: As with all of our rescues, we recommend homes with children 10 years and over to ensure the best fit for both the pets and families involved.

Check out all of our adoptable pups and learn more about our rescue on our website: www.stmuttsrescue.com
