Windy's Story

Windy is a young long-haired Chihuahua mix with a story as unique as her sweet little face. After spending her first year in a crate, she’s now discovering what it truly means to be a dog — and she’s doing it with charm, silliness, and a whole lot of heart.

? Personality: Windy is playful, goofy, and loves to “talk trash” to the other dogs she's living with. She adores canine friends, though she hasn’t been cat-tested or cat-approved yet. Because of her small size, she’d do best in a home with older children who understand how to be gentle with her.

? Favorite Things: Walks, toys, belly rubs, car rides, and cozy naps are her absolute joys. She’s happiest when she gets to be your little shadow and buddy.

? Special Quirks: Windy had one eye removed after her rescue, which makes her extra special. Sometimes she spins left or hesitates at thresholds, but with patience and encouragement, she straightens herself out. She’s also learning potty training and thrives when things feel like her idea — she’s too smart to be coerced!

? Why Adopt Windy? Windy is resilient, loving, and incredibly bright. She’s looking for a patient, kind adopter who will help her continue to blossom. In return, she’ll shower you with affection, laughter, and loyalty. Windy doesn’t just want a home — she wants a forever best friend.

Tails Up Paws Down Rescue's Adoption Policy
Once you've completed your application, one of our volunteers will start the process. First we check your vet reference to confirm that current pets are up-to-date on the core vaccines - rabies and distemper and dogs are on heartworm preventative. We research past pets as well to be sure they were regularly vetted. We do this for all the animals we take into rescue and want to be sure you will do the same for them. If you rent your home, we check with your landlord to be sure you have permission to have a pet. We then call and interview you and set up a time to do a home visit. We just look to see that your home is appropriate for the type of pet you are looking to adopt. We then check your references and if all is good, you are approved to adopt! Our application can be found on our website at www.tailsuppawsdownrescue.org.
