WILSON's Story

Let's talk about 19-month-old WILSON. Yes, he was presented as a Ridgeback mix... no, he probably isn't. But he's gotta have some sort of sighthound in him! His body type resembles that of a greyhound or Sloughi or Azawakh. Besides his tall, lean and streamlined figure (he's very thin at 63 lbs but could stand to gain a few!), he has very keen vision and alerts on things we do not! Perfect in the house - no accidents, great in his crate when need be. Polite barks at door when someone arrives, very appropriate alert! Wilson is smart and curious, and works to figure out new situations or problems. He came to us seemingly knowing zero cues/commands, but has learned a few in foster care.

Wilson is a very fun and sweet boy, loves to touch and be touched--he craves physical affection. He does great meeting new dogs and is well-liked by dogs of all kinds; he's proven to acclimate easily to any new dog environment and is very easygoing in that regard. Hopefully he will end up with a new canine companion! He is hesitant around new people initially, until he decides they're "good guys," He should be good with respectful kids and probably would do well with cats, given proper introduction. Wilson is admittedly on the sensitive side, which makes him a little aloof, sometimes worried, and also a bit flighty. He can get distracted by new sights and sounds, and anxious until he figures them out. He will need a watchful eye and secure yard until he is firmly established with his new family. But he will LOVE you if you give him plenty of belly rubs and let him lay his head on your lap when wants to!

Wilson is currently in Sonoma County.
