Willy's Story
Willy was a stray seen wandering around the neighborhood of the Good Samaritan that found him. Sleeping on porches for many days he was finally taken in by the Good Samaritan and sadly not claimed by anyone in the neighborhood. A couple of weeks later Willie was turned over to rescue and we have had him since.

Willy can be a little cautious of strangers in the beginning but then starts to warm up very nicely. Is friendly once he knows you and does enjoying hanging out with his canine companions. He does not mind cats one bit either.

In the beginning, sudden movements scared him and lots of activities make him withdraw, so think a home with small children might be too much for him. Also a bit hand shy at first. He may have a little bit of past trauma that he needs to overcome and is doing it well in his calm and understanding foster home.

He does well in a crate but will become vocal, (and boy can he screech), when he has been in one for too long. He loves to go for walks and does well on a leash. His favorite thing to do is to just hang out and be part of the family. We think someone who works long hours might not be good for him because when he does become vocal it is definitely unique.
Also, his house breaking skills tend to break down when he is left wandering alone and not in his crate for long times.

He loves cuddles and being part of the family.

Willy definitely deserves the chance to be in a loving home that will spend time focusing on his needs and doesnt mind teaching him the ways of the world. Another friendly dog in the home would be a plus as he seems to take their cues from them quite readily. Dog friendly cats in the home are also a plus.

Willy is neutered, up to date on all his vaccines and microchipped. He does have a severe heart murmur, but currently is not on any medication. That will be something to consider possibly in the future.

This is a great senior boy that would be wonderful for a semi-retired or retired family who still likes to go for car rides, walks on the beach and lots of adventures. He's also great for a weekend night of movies and popcorn. If you are looking for a companion that will be devoted to you in the future then really is your dog. His $500 adoption fee helps us ensure that we can continue to help strays like Willie get off the streets, get the medical attention they need and find the homes of their dreams.
