Willow's Story

Willow is the most loyal, cuddly, sweet dog you will ever have! She is safe now and she knows it, which she shows appreciation by enjoying cuddling in the couch with you, and doing a crazy excited dance when mealtime is about to happen!

Willow came from a life where she was left to fend for herself, and she clearly had multiple pregnancies. This past month all Willow had to do was rest and learn to be a loved dog. Willow came to me a little overprotective about her personal space, when other dogs are related. Nothing scary or concerning, she just growls, not teeth showing; sometimes, even without opening her eyes. A grumpy growling that says: leave me alone! I am glad to report that this is further from who she is now, no growling for over a week! Don’t get me wrong, she is a funny grumpy lady still, wait until she is tired; Willow will walk to her bed in the master room and go sleep; no goodbyes!

She is bright and won't be hard to train, she is motivated by food! She tends to be a little stubborn when you start teaching her, but she wants the treat badly so she will do it; just stick to the command and wait. She truly idolizes her human and look up to you as the pack leader. Great listener!

Because humans are her favorite thing, she does super well sleeping in her dog bed by me. Her goal in life is to sleep with her human, so she tries every day. Willow still eats alone in her crate just because she really loves food and will seriously inhale if another pup is close by.

I would say only older children for this lady, as she needs her quiet time and little children still don’t understand that yet. As for other dogs, she is friendly and playful just introduce her slowly as she tends to prefer to observe first to then join in! Remember her past? I think she is just figuring out what good life and good friends means! Give her a little time. My observation at this point has been that she does better with female dog vs male. Male dogs are not a problem- just takes her a few more days, and your encouragement, to trust them!

If you are looking for a couch buddy, likes kisses, and enjoy all the love of a dog, Willow is your girl! She is laying in my feet as I write this! :)
