Willow's Story

Meet Willow

Vibe Check:
Retired from Ridglan Farms, wanting to forget what she has endured. Ready for the good life.

Fun Fact:
Willow is a toy destroyer. She enjoys gutting stuffies like a pro.

Rescue: Albert's Dog Lounge
Age: Adult
Size: Medium
Fostered in: Madison, Wisconsin

Willow's Origin Story:
Like all the beagles released from Ridglan Farm, Willow has not had a life full of family, love, and socialization. She will need patience and understanding to make up for lost time.

Health Notes:
Willow is spayed and is fully up to date on her vetting. She is currently eating a raw diet, and it is recommended that an adopter continue with this to ensure that her tummy remains stable. Many of the beagles that came out of RF had significant digestive issues for a while, and the raw diet seems to have stabilized that. The Ridglan beagles have been found to be prone to vaccine reactions. She will need to receive Benadryl 24 hours before and 24 hours after vaccines to prevent this going forward.

Personality:
Willow is a brave, active girl. She has overcome a lot of trauma in his five weeks of freedom. She will need help learning how to leash walk, and enjoys playing with her doggy foster siblings. She is remarkably adaptable, and would thrive in a home where she is included in daily life. She is getting better at accepting human companionship, but will need to be approached slowly and at her level. She is definitely more comfortable with women.

While she is still people-shy, she warms up to adults. We believe she would also be good with and respectful, older children. She is excited when you return home from being at work. She gets along well with other friendly dogs, and loves to play with them, and currently lives with two dog friendly cats.

Family Matters:
Willow would love a confident dog sibling. Her foster siblings are a great source of happiness for her, and she will continue to need this going forward.

When she is ready, she will put her paws on you, and will even stand on you, but it will take time for her to trust you. An adopter will need to be calm, patient, and understanding as she continues to learn to be a dog.

Things Willow Loves

Toys
Affection, but on her terms
Sniffy yard patrols
Calm visitors, especially if female
Warm weather
Life outside a cage

Signature Move:
Looking at you with those big, sweet eyes and making your heart melt

Bucket List:
Learning how to be a pet
Her own fluffy bed
A dish that will always have enough healthy food to fill her belly
Lots of walks
Space to sniff with that beagle nose
A patient, loving family with soft hands and lots of love to offer

A Few House Rules:
Because these dogs have been through so much, it is our job as those entrusted with their care to be very thoughtful in their placement. Here are our requirements.

Fenced yard required
No apartments
Another confident dog in the home required
No small children in the household
Strong veterinary history with current pets up to date on vaccines, heartworm testing/prevention, and current pets spayed/neutered
Preference given to adopters with beagle or hound experience
Minimal hours home alone preferred
Live within 5 hours of our headquarters in Whitewater, WI

Neutered
Microchipped
Housebreaking is a work in progress, though he is improving! He poops outside without issue, but uses a belly band as he gets used to peeing outside.
Working on leash walking, does well with it inside the house, but is startled by loud noises outdoors.
PLEASE do not crate, does spectacularly free roaming the house
UTD on vaccinations
UTD on preventatives

Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs.

Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and then a meet and greet with the dog.
