Wilhelmina's Story

NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS

Wilhelmina—affectionately called Mina—is a name fit for a duchess, and she carries it with quiet, old-world grace. Thought to be around 9 months old, her striking coat and soulful eyes, she looks as though she’s stepped straight out of a grand European oil painting, perhaps lounging beside a rider at an elegant equestrian estate. But beneath that regal exterior is a tender, observant young pup, newly arrived and thoughtfully taking in the world around her. Mina has already proven herself wonderfully house-trained, politely signaling at the door like a proper lady, and though she may take her time to warm up, once you’ve earned her trust, she offers the sweetest affection—gentle kisses, soft cuddles, and a deep desire to be close to her person.

Like any young aristocrat finding her footing in a new home, Mina is still learning the rhythms of daily life. She is not fond of confinement and finds the crate quite distressing, preferring instead the freedom to curl at your feet like a loyal companion. With patience and reassurance, she is slowly building confidence, showing just how intelligent and adaptable she truly is. She’s cautious but curious on walks, pausing for long, thoughtful “sniffaris,” occasionally striking a perfect pointer’s pose as she studies the world—squirrels, birds, and passersby all subjects of her quiet fascination. She doesn’t rush; Mina believes in savoring life’s details.

And while she may carry herself with poise, Mina has a delightfully playful, even silly side. She adores toys—especially her beloved plush purse, which she proudly parades around like a fashionable accessory—and enjoys bursts of zoomies and goofy antics that will make you laugh out loud. She’s gentle in play, affectionate in spirit, and endlessly charming in her blend of refinement and puppy mischief. With time, patience, and love, Wilhelmina will blossom into a devoted, elegant companion—the kind of dog who doesn’t just share your home but truly belongs by your side.

We love our dogs. We want happy lives for all of them and are looking for the home that provides the best fit for each dog’s individual needs. Please understand that there may be multiple families interested in this dog.

Also, please know that the breed mix listed is simply a guess. In most cases, we don’t know their background. We encourage you to base your decision on individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on our guess.

Please understand, we only adopt our animals out near the Chicagoland area.
