Wilco's Story

Meet Wilco!

Wilco is a joyful, affectionate dog with a big heart and an even bigger zest for life. Everywhere he goes, his happy energy and wagging tail make an impression. On his recent Dog's Day Out, he showed himself to be a loving, social companion who truly enjoys being with people and taking in the world around him.

He is comfortable and curious in public, eager to explore new places and especially excited to meet new friends along the way. Wilco clearly loves human attention and is the kind of dog who wants to be part of the action. He greeted people with enthusiasm and seemed to genuinely enjoy every moment of his outing.

Wilco is also a smart boy with a nice foundation to build on. He knows "sit," takes treats gently, and is motivated by the right rewards. He may turn his nose up at an ordinary Milk-Bone, but offer him something a little more exciting and he is ready to learn. He seems eager to please and would likely enjoy working with someone who can continue building his skills through positive reinforcement and consistency.

He rides well in the car and handled a busy outing with confidence. Wilco was interested in his surroundings, happy to keep moving, and comfortable experiencing new environments. He also has an especially sweet side, showing some timidity in certain moments, particularly when something is above his head. That softer side only adds to his charm and shows that he will benefit from a home that offers both encouragement and reassurance.

Wilco is a high-energy dog who will need an adopter ready to help him channel that energy in productive ways. He can be strong on leash and jumpy when excited, so he is still working on basic manners and boundaries. The good news is that he appears very willing and trainable, and with structure and guidance, he has so much potential to grow into an amazing companion.

One of Wilco's cutest quirks is his love for stuffed animals. Paired with his loving personality and cheerful spirit, it is easy to see how much fun he could be in the right home.

Wilco may be best suited for a home without small children right now, simply because of his energy level and excitement. He would likely thrive with someone who appreciates an affectionate, lively dog and is excited to continue his training while enjoying all the love and personality he has to offer.

If you are looking for a happy, people-loving companion with a sweet heart, an eager mind, and a tail that never seems to stop wagging, Wilco would love to meet you.

As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog-to-dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines.

To meet your new pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
