Widget's Story
Widget is the kind of dog who enjoys the simple things in life, a cool spot on the floor, a car ride adventure, and relaxing near his favorite people. He's a calm, quiet boy who doesn't ask for much. Once he feels comfortable, his sweet personality and playful side begin to shine through.
Since arriving in foster care, Widget has made wonderful progress. He has formed a strong bond with his foster mom and is beginning to seek out affection on his own. He happily comes over for pets, enjoys being near his people, and has even started testing out the idea of climbing into a lap for extra attention.
Widget is currently working on socialization and leash confidence. He wasn't a fan of having a collar or leash on when he first arrived, but he continues to make steady progress with patient guidance and positive experiences.
One area where Widget has truly excelled is his potty habits. He has not had an accident in his foster home and consistently goes outside to do his business. He's even started standing by the door and giving a little bark when he needs to go out.
Widget has done very well with the resident dogs in his foster home. He is respectful and content to coexist with them rather than actively seeking them out for play. A very energetic or overly playful dog may make him a little nervous at first, but once they settle down, he is comfortable sharing space and doing his own thing. He would likely do best with a calm canine companion or as an only dog.
One thing Widget has decided he absolutely loves is car rides! He happily enjoys the adventure, although he may need a doggie seatbelt because he'd much rather ride up front and help navigate.
Widget settles nicely in his crate, remains quiet, and willingly goes in when asked. He is not currently being fostered with children, and because he can be overwhelmed by a lot of activity, a home with older, calmer children may be the best fit.
As for small animals? Let's just say Widget's personal motto is:
EAT MOR CHIKIN
Because of his interest in chickens and other small critters, a home without them would be the best fit.
If you're looking for a sweet companion who will reward your patience with loyalty and trust, Widget may be the perfect match. His world is getting bigger every day, and he's ready for a family to help him continue that journey.
