Whitley- Foster to Adopt's Story

Visit IBR's Facebook Page @Ilbirddog to see Whitley and her puppies in action! Her recovery page is also here https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1480282987476135&type=3 COPY AND PASTE IN YOUR BROWSER.

On May 8th, I was notified about a pretty tricolor and white English Setter that was in an over-crowded shelter in Kentucky and she was very pregnant. Luckily we got Whitley to town a few days later, and we got her to our vet and settled into foster care. She delivered the Trend Setter litter on May 17th. We were able to chat with her previous owner and suspected that the daddy might be the neighbor's Great Dane and DNA did confirm the puppies are half Dane and half Setter.

It has been a gratifying experience helping mamma Whitley deliver her puppies and making sure she got the best nutrition and care while she nursed her big beautiful puppies. She has been an amazing momma but now that her motherly duties are winding down, it's time to find her a new forever home. Whitley is actually mostly Llewellyn Setter- which is just a more line bred field English. She has typical Setter energy and will need her quota of exercise everyday- but she's also happy to rest in her cage, especially when we had warm weather. She is a super fun Setter, and she loves to play with her puppies, some of my younger dogs and she loves the kiddie pool. She is not cat safe.

Whitley will be 4 on August 29th and we are offering Foster to Adopt in the Chicago area only as she will need to be spayed once her hormones calm down. She will also need a home with a privacy fence as she can clear a 4 foot chain-link fence. While I was told Whitley was professionally trained for upland bird hunting, she is noise sensitive to fireworks and also to other loud noises like thunder. I also think she may have been abuse with an Electronic collar. For now I am only looking for a Setter loving adoptive home in the Chicago suburbs.

If you would like to help, please submit a foster or adoptive application at www.helpibr.org You can also call Lisa@ 630-694-1359
