White Paw aka Buddy's Story
PUPDATE: White Paw will be leaving for a Slumber Party this week!
June 4 update from foster home: White Paw (Buddy!) is doing great. He is really starting to chillax and enjoy his life. He still needs to learn that life with people is a good thing. He is good with or without other dogs! He loves being cuddled and will choose his favorite spaces when he feels uneasy. Having a routine will be important to start a life with him. He does well being kenneled all night or when needed during the day. He still needs a special loving patience until he can truly love living his best puppydog life.
*See second picture for another update.
Initial report from his foster home: Buddy (aka White Paw) is coming along. Will need a patient loving understanding family. He will turn into a Velcro pup. Finally got a voice and loves to use it when he wants out of his pen. Potty outside is working. Not one mess in his pen or the house with regular trips outside. Understanding the leash much better. Doesnt mind my two ole girls. He will attach to the one who spends the most time with him. Hes learning being loved is a good thing.
White Paw arrived at NCCR on 5/9/26, transferred from an overcrowded shelter after being rescued from a hoarding situation to give him the best chance at finding his forever family. He is an approximately 2-year-old neutered male Chihuahua mix, weighing around 12 lbs. full-grown. White Paw is quite fearful and timid due to his past experiences, but will come out of his shell in time with patience and some TLC. He needs a home with at least one or more other friendly dogs to make him feel more at-ease, and a fenced yard is strongly recommended. White Paw may be a nervous Ned right now, but he is sure to discover a brand-new side of himself as he becomes more confident and secure in his new life!
White Paw is in foster care. Meet & Greets can be arranged for approved applicants. *Approved applicants are welcome to participate in our popular Slumber Party program and take a dog home for up to 2 weeks to make sure he/she is a great fit.
If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application at www.caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again when you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email us at adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day.
We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopters must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in.
*PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide. If they are incorrect, we will not be able to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone, so advise your references that there may be an unknown or private number calling them. Thank you!
