Whisper - UPDATE - Toronto's Story
WHISPER HAS FULLY RECOVERED FROM HER SPAY SURGERY AND IS READY TO GO HOME.

Whisper is almost 3 years old and has a beautiful red sable colour with a very inquiring personality.....and just look at that lovely face! She is interested in everything around her and especially what her special person is doing or going. Whisper is on the larger size for a Sheltie at 44lbs. (she probably has some non-Sheltie genes too) and does need to lose a few pounds to be at her best weight. She is a medium energy dog and walking would be a good way for her to keep fit. As well, she loves chasing a ball

Whisper is affectionate and is very good with people after she knows them....she can be quite barky and takes time to warm up to and trust strangers who come to her house, so would be best in a house without too many people coming and going.

She had a bad experience in her original home with a dog so Whisper needs proper and slow introductions to new dogs. She needs to feel safe and secure first. Her confidence will slowly come along with her trust.

She has previously lived in a rural area so is becoming used to city sights and sounds when out walking. A quiet residential area would be best for Whisper to feel comfortable and confident as she learns about living in a community.

Whisper can be reactive to dogs and people when out walking on leash and requires patience and experienced handling. An Obedience course is highly recommended for continued socialization with people and dogs in a controlled environment with dog behaviour knowledgeable people for assistance. It is also an excellent way to develop a great bond between a new owner and dog.

*******************************************************************************************************
If you have a fully fenced and secured yard and are interested in adopting WHISPER or any of our dogs, the first step is to complete an Adoption Application at www.sosr.ca/apply-to-adopt so that we can determine whether you and your family are a good match for one of the dogs. If we have a possible match, you would then have a telephone interview, speak to the foster mom, have a home visit by one of our volunteers and vet reference check. Once you have been approved for adoption you can then meet the dog at his foster home. At that time, if you would like to have him as a new family member, you would complete the adoption paperwork and take him home.
