Whiskey's Story

Whiskey is an amazing animal and absolutely STUNNING! She is also one of our longest-term residents, having been with us almost 3 years now at WAG. She is thought to be a Mountain Cur Mix or Plott Hound mix and is estimated at around 6 yrs old. (DOB 12/15/19) This is a girl that would be happy just to have an active, outdoor hooman companion for life! Someone to take her places and do things with!

Whiskey is extremely athletic and one of the fastest dogs we have seen. She is high energy and would excel in sports, tracking, hiking, dock diving or many other activities. She loves to be petted; she loves her walks and is great on a leash. Whiskey always aims to please and is so excited when she knows it's her turn to go for her walk or out for playtime! She also LOVES to go for her run alongside the WAG golf cart!

She really prefers to be the only pet in the home. She doesn't mind being brought around other dogs but is dog selective and doesn't seem to play well with others when we've tried. Unfortunately, she doesn't like cats either. At least the ones she's met so far!
She has always been the type of dog that thrives on hooman interaction and would LOVE to have an adopter that would just take her everywhere! She's that type of dog!

It's also possible that Whiskey would be a bit less energetic in a home environment/outside the WAG kennels. She thrives on human attention and companionship as well as activity and interesting things to see and do. She has been at the rescue for too long and is a bit frustrated. She prefers to be outdoors over indoors. She was adopted to a great home last year where she got to spend most of her time outdoors as she loved, however she was returned when she was left loose inside without supervision and damaged some items of theirs. For Whiskey, she does better crated if she is going to be left unattended indoors. So, she is back at WAG and on the search again. Still just as sweet as she was before and more mature.

She will need an experienced handler. If you are not sure if this is you, or you are interested in Whiskey but are afraid it may not work out in the end. Please do not worry! We ALWAYS help you through the adoption process, if it's not a good fit and isn't going to work, we ALWAYS take our WAG dog back so we can find another good fitting home for her! If in the first 30 days, we will refund your adoption fee.

Please consider coming to meet this amazing girl and spending some time with her! Contact us for a meet and greet on Facebook, IM, or call 352-528-9888 to learn more and meet her today! She is such a wonderful girl and deserves her furever also! You should also complete an application if at all thinking of adopting! Go to willistonanimalgroup.org/adopt
