Wesley's Story

Wesley / M / 6 months / Mixed breed / 43lbs / Fostered in Owen Sound

Wesley is the kind of puppy who walks into a room and immediately makes it better. With his big paws, whippy tail, and ears that shoot straight up like little antennae when something catches his attention, he is pure puppy energy wrapped in an absolutely adorable package. This lanky, loveable boy has no idea how big he's going to be — and honestly, we're kind of obsessed with him.

He came from a hard start. Wesley was rescued from an abusive situation, but you'd never know it. He is confident, joyful, and genuinely thrilled to be alive. He recently recovered from hip surgery and has healed like a champ — a few more weeks of slowly building back up his physical activity and this boy will be fully ready to take on the world.

What makes Wesley, Wesley: he is the kind of dog who wants to be right there with you, always. He squeaks every toy he owns (loudly, enthusiastically, and with great pride), demolishes cardboard boxes like it's a hobby, and considers peanut butter a love language. He plays hard with other dogs, greets strangers like long-lost friends, and will absolutely try to sit in your lap despite his size.

A little about where he's at: Wesley is doing really well with potty training— he goes out regularly and can hold it for about 3-4 hours. He's still getting comfortable with alone time and his crate, so he'd thrive in a home where someone is around more often than not, at least while he's building that confidence. He does best with another playful dog in the home to keep him company.

Wesley's ideal home: An active person or family who's around during the day, and ideally another young, energetic dog to be his partner in crime. He's great on leash, loves everyone he meets, and has no resource guarding. Older kids who enjoy a bouncy, enthusiastic pup would love him. Cats, not so much — he does have a chase instinct there.

Wesley has already overcome so much. Now he just needs someone to give him the life he was always supposed to have.

If you are interested in adopting Wesley, please complete an adoption application on our website.
