Waylon's Story

Waylon appears to have had a very rough 2 years on this earth, but he has made it to rescue and everything is looking up for him. He is currently about 60 pounds, but needs to gain a few for sure. He came into rescue so completely matted that you couldn't even tell he was a dog. He was matted so badly, it was affecting his mobility as mats were limiting his range of motion. Thanks to TLC, he has been shaved and is starting what will soon be a beautiful new, manicured coat. He has absolutely no trouble getting around and he is certainly exercising his right to run and play. He is gaining weight and he is learning how to be an indoor companion pet. He seems to be fine around children but is big and active and certainly may knock a toddler down. He has done fantastic with his crate training and house breaking. He is learning how to walk on a leash, but still wants to pull. We haven't started trick training just yet as we have only had him a week and we like to give them 3 weeks to decompress before setting additional expectations. He will be an absolute stunner after his hair grows out and he gets a couple of professional grooms to give him a teddy bear face and fluffy body. Waylon definitely needs a person or family who like us, sees his potential not only physically but emotionally. He has had very little time, attention and training so he is basically a blank slate. However he is a big blank slate that will also require grooming so he needs someone who can work with him, isn't afraid of a brush and knows professional groomings will be part of his regular care and maintenance. If you think you may have an active loving home for Waylon, please email iPAWinc2022@gmail.com for an application.
