Wayland's Story

Wayland is wise, wordly, worthy, wonderful and oh-so wiggly! This sweet dude has had a tough month - abandoned at a local home who tried to care for him, he then ended up with us. He came in with a severe skin infection that originally looked like animal bites! We're so happy that his skin is now all healed and his fur has grown back beautifully; you can't even tell there was an issue.

And, when we say this approximately 1-year-old is wiggly, we mean it! Now that he's safe and healed, Wayland is finding joy. When he sees people he knows, he's so happy and that wiggle butt gets to wiggling. He's still a little wary when he first meets someone, but warms up quickly when he knows you're a friend. He knows how to sit, is gentle taking treats and is learning to walk on the leash. He likes to be as close to his people as possible, so if you're looking for an affectionate snuggly velcro dog, Wayland might just be your guy. He's good with dogs, but seems uncertain with cats; he barks at them and acts like he's scared, so either a cat-free home or one that can introduce them very slowly with supervision. Wayland will be neutered and microchipped next week, and is up to date on vaccines.

Apply to adopt your new best friend at www.secondchanceas.org/adopt or at the sanctuary any time we're open. Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries's Adoption Policy
Our adoption process: 1) Fill out an application on our website at www.secondchanceas.org/adopt. Please note that submitting an inquiry through PetFinder or other online listing does not constitute an adoption application. Applications can also be downloaded as a pdf and emailed to secondchanceas@yahoo.com or filled out at the sanctuary any time we're open. 2) We will process your application by calling your veterinarian and personal references. How long this takes depends on how quickly we can reach them. You can help expedite this process by letting them know we'll be calling from the number 570-376-3646. We may also call you to ask additional questions or to share pertinent information about the animal you've applied for. 3) We will inform you of your application's status, usually in a few days to a week. Even if the animal you hoped to adopt goes to another home, you still may be approved to adopt another animal. We attempt to match animals to homes that best fit their personality/needs and vice versa. NOTE: You do not have to apply for a specific animal on your application. You can submit it as a "pre-application" for a certain size, age or breed of animal, and if approved, we can contact you if a possible match arrives at the shelter.
