Water Lily’s FAQs

What is Beaumont Pets Alive’s adoption process?

Step 1: Let’s Begin! Thank you for your interest in adopting a rescue pet! Rescue pets make the best pets. We rescue pets from our local municipal shelter at risk of euthanasia. We list our available animals here on PetFinder.com. Step 2: Matching Expectations Our Adoption Coordinators will review your adoption application and answer any questions you may have about the type of pet you are looking for. Our team members work with our pets every day so that we may give you detailed information about their personalities. Our goal is to help you find the perfect pet based on your personality and lifestyle. Step 3: Meeting the Animal After completing the initial paperwork, you are then encouraged to visit the dogs and cats. Please be aware that when they are comfortable in a home, they will relax, and their personality may be different than while in the shelter. We recommend you bring all household members to visit with the pets you are interested in. Step 4: Adoption Fees When finalizing your adoption, our Adoption Coordinator will: - Give you information and advice specific to your home and new pet -Talk about any known medical conditions or behavioral special needs of your new pet - Review adoption fee & benefits: This fee offsets some of the costs associated with providing for our animals – this includes housing, food, medical care, enrichment, behavior modification, and more. - Dog adoption fee varies depending upon age, breed, and medical/behavioral conditions. This fee includes spay/neuter surgery, heartworm test over 6 months, one or more sets of vaccinations, deworming, flea/heartworm prevention, microchip, and personality evaluation. Adoption fees may vary. Transport fees apply. - Cat adoption fee varies depending upon age, breed, and medical/behavioral conditions. This fee includes spay/neuter surgery, FeLV/FIV testing, one or more set of vaccinations, deworming, flea/heartworm prevention, microchip, and personality evaluation. Adoption fees may vary. Step 5: Return Policy Adoption is a rewarding lifetime commitment. Our most successful adopters are those who take their time in finding the right pet for their personality and lifestyle. We hope that you and your pet will be lifelong companions, but we understand that life can get in the way of even the best of plans. Beaumont Pets Alive offers a 3 day adjustment period within which you can evaluate the pet’s progress and your adoption decision. If within those 3 days, you determine your recently adopted pet isn’t a good fit or you find yourself unable to provide necessary medical care, you may return the animal to BPA and receive a partial refund. We encourage you to have your veterinarian examine your pet within the 3 day adjustment period.
