This handsome poodle mix was found as a stray in Kentucky in heartbreaking condition—starving, severely matted, and suffering from mange. His coat was so neglected that he had to be completely shaved, but thanks to rescue and lots of care, Walter is feeling much better and ready to find a family of his own.<br/><br/>Despite everything he's been through, Walter has remained incredibly sweet-natured. He loves attention from his people and is happiest when hes getting pets, affection, and quality time with humans.<br/><br/>Walter has plenty of classic poodle energy! He's curious, active, and always interested in what's going on around him. He seems eager to learn and would likely thrive with positive reinforcement training, enrichment activities, and a family that enjoys helping a smart dog reach his full potential.<br/><br/>Walter has come a long way from the neglected dog who was found wandering alone. You will be asked to return for at least one follow-up visit, then take the dog home for a trial period before officially adopting.<br/> You must be 21 years or older to adopt from STAF.<br/> Due in part to increasing coyote activity/incidents in the area and the difficulty of predicting how a dog will respond to invisible fence training, we can not adopt to homes with invisible fences.<br/> We do request vet and personal references.<br/> We can facilitate adoptions within a 30-mile radius of our Cincinnati-based shelter.
