Walter 2026-175's Story

Meet Walter - A Little Dog With a Big Will to Live Walter had a rough start to life. He found himself at animal control unable to use his back legs, and no one knew exactly what his future would look like. But Walter wasn't ready to give up. With an incredible amount of love, some well-timed tough love, therapy, and a little out-of-the-box medical thinking, Walter has made remarkable progress. Today, he has gained significant function in his rear legs and continues to improve week after week. He may never be a completely typical, fully functioning pup - but Walter doesn't know that, and honestly, he doesn't seem to care. What Walter does know is how to have a good time! His absolute favorite pastime is playing with other dogs. Running, wrestling, rolling around, weaving and dodging, and playing tug-of-war are what make Walter happiest - and they're also some of the best therapy for his legs. He is a happy-go-lucky guy who loves being part of the action. Walter is crate trained and housebroken. He knows he is supposed to do his business outside and genuinely enjoys going out. Occasionally, his humans don't quite understand his cues quickly enough, so accidents can happen. His future family will need to be patient and willing to learn his signals. Walter can climb several stairs, but going down stairs isn't safe or healthy for his joints, so a home without stairs or with a way to safely manage them would be ideal. He doesn't have the stamina for traditional walks, but that doesn't stop Walter from enjoying adventures. Put him in a wagon and he is perfectly happy to ride along and take in the world! Walter loves car rides, enjoys getting out and about, and especially loves having canine friends to play with. His body may have some limitations, but his spirit certainly doesn't. Walter is looking for someone who will see what he CAN do rather than what he can't. He needs a patient, loving family who will continue supporting his progress, respect his physical limitations, and let him show them just how much life he has left to live. Walter has already overcome so much. Now he just needs someone who will believe in him and give him the forever home he deserves.

Pup & Cat Co.'s Adoption Policy
Pup and Cat Co is a FOSTER based rescue and NOT an animal shelter. This means that each of our dogs are in a foster home and not in a building open to the public. We have an application process and a team of volunteers who work tirelessly to find the best fit for each of our dogs. If you are interested in a dog, you MUST fill out an application on our website. Once we review your information, we will reach out *IF* we feel you would be a good match. Please do not send multiple emails, voicemails, FB messages, etc as we receive hundreds of inquiries each day. Our goal is to find a furever home for each one of our special pups. We do not rush the process as this is a lifelong committment! Thank you for your understanding.
