Waldo's Story

Available for adoption!
Located in Slidell, LA

Waldo is an 8 year old Chihuahua looking for a home! When Waldo first came to us after his owner died, he had just spent a week at the shelter and was absolutely mortified at his predicament. He barked at us through the kennel, and I honestly wasn't sure if he would come around. The fear in his eyes made me give him a chance though.

Fast forward a few weeks later, Waldo is totally thriving in his foster home! His tail is constantly wagging and he lives to follow his foster around everywhere she goes. He's also reportedly done really well with house training He's really become the sweetest little companion. He loves spending time with the other dog in the home, and watching their friendship grow has been so special.

One thing about Waldo is that he takes his job of protecting his human very seriously He is always alert and will let us know if someone is at the door or just walking down the street minding their own business. Typical Chihuahua beef with everyone in the neighborhood for just existing So with that being said he can definitely be protective of his person and he might try to chomp at an ankle of a guest He really just needs an experienced home - Chihuahua people totally get this. He would do best in a home with another small dog to vibe with, and a hard no on small kids or super frequent visitors. It's for the best- but he's really not all that bad once he gets to know someone. He just barks a lot and might nip at a stranger.

Waldo is a food-motivated little guy so it should be easy for his new family to win over his trust just like we had to do. To make it easier, we offer a 2 week foster-to-adopt trial period to make sure he adjusts well. If you need more than 2 weeks, that's okay too. We just want the little guy to succeed in life. He deserves it. Losing his owner and ending up at the shelter is just heartbreaking as it is, let alone waiting forever to find a new family.

APPLY AT THIS LINK, WE MAY NOT SEE YOUR "PETFINDER INQUIRY": https://form.jotform.com/92846379021159
