Waffles is fully house trained!

*LEASH: walks okay on a leash but he is nervous around new sounds and people. We think he will build confidence with more practice.

*AT THE VET: He is nervous at the vet but did great and was loved by all

*VETTING: Waffles is neutered, microchipped, current on core vaccines, dewormer, and heartworm/flea tick preventives. He is in search of a special family that enjoys walks, fetch, playful exercise, and a loving companionship. He can be a little shy at first but once you get to know him, he is an absolute Velcro dog. He quickly attaches to humans and furry dog friends that give him a chance and let him open up on his own time. He was nervous during his transition to his foster home but settled in quickly and became fast friends with his new foster family.

Waffles was surrendered to IDOG through no fault of his own; his family loved him very much but Waffles was being picked on by other dogs in the home and his family made the difficult decision to ask IDOG to help find a home where he could thrive and enjoy all of the dog things without being scared. Waffles is very affectionate after he warms up to you. He loves to cuddle and seeks out pets and belly rubs. He is a little nervous/afraid at times, but once he learns that you are safe, he is silly and playful, warm and affectionate, happy to take treats and plays freely with other dog friends. He just needs a little love and patience until he is comfortable in new settings. He enjoys a routine and takes the lead from his foster dog sisters. Waffles also had the chance to meet some new boy dog friends and did great with them as well. He is still a puppy and while hes done very well in his foster home he will need continued work on behaviors like jumping.

Waffles can be initially timid; he is afraid when new people and new dogs are introduced and clings closely to his human while he inspects the new arrivals. He has felt comfortable in as little as ten minutes or a little at a time over a couple of days, but he does eventually come around and enjoy the company of both people and dogs alike. He is a very sweet, very lovable little guy that we think with continued socialization and exposure to the world he will continue to improve as he had made great progress while in his foster home.

IDEAL TYPE OF HOME:
Waffles would thrive in a home where he is not left alone all day. He would be a solid work from home companion and would benefit greatly from another dog in the house that is not overly dominant. We think he would thrive with an experienced dog owner who will help him continue to work on his confidence and would be a good companion for an active family that wants to include him in their daily activities. He does great in the car and wants to be with you as much as possible.

Adjectives that describe Waffles:
*Velcro
*Cuddly
*Sweet
*Timid initially of new people and new situations
*Loving
*Gentle
*Playful
*Snuggly
*Submissive
*Affectionate

Activities that Waffles enjoys:
+tug
+fetch
+walking
+hiking
+running
+chew toys
+squeaky toys
+cuddling
+playing with other dogs

After adoption we ask that you give any rescue dog time to acclimate - the 3/3/3 rule 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months. For 3 days after adoption/transition, the dog may wonder who you are, what the routine is, who the other dogs are. After about 3 weeks, the dog has typically acclimated to your schedule & knows its role in the house. After about 3 months, the dog has revealed their temperament & personality & settled in.

ADOPTION PROCESS DETAILS:
*Please read ALL the information in Waffles listing before applying to ensure you understand what he needs to be successful in his new home.

*Please complete our adoption application at http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application(copy/paste URL into your browser).

*If you completed an adoption application in the last 6 months & would like for your application to be considered for Bodie please email us at rescue@idogdoodlerescue.org.

*You must complete our adoption application fully. We do not transport our dogs.

ADOPTION FEE: $600

ADOPTION FEE EXPLANATION:
Puppies & highly adoptable dogs have a higher adoption fee to help IDOG cover the vetting & expenses of the other dogs in IDOG whose adoption fees do not cover their expenses. Our expenses are high these days due to increased vetting expenses, board & train costs, medical/health issues & surgery that is needed for some of our dogs. IDOG relies heavily on donations to bridge the gap between our adoption fees & our expenses. Unfortunately, donations are down across the board for all rescues.

TO APPLY FOR Waffles-Missouri, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE:
http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application
